I’m the wife of one of the kindest, selfless, husbands you’ll ever meet; the mother of two vibrant, intelligent, adult daughters; daughter of wonderfully loving, steadfast parents; sister of one of my best friends; and member of incredible extended families. I’ve got a treasured handful of amazing friends, spread around in 3 states, who save me a lot of money in counseling bills. Blessings upon blessings.
I’m a native Californian who up and moved with my husband to Virginia at the tender age of 57!
Way back when, I earned my bachelor’s degree in Information and Communications Studies with a minor in English, (required bio info). My 20’s were spent in a career in radio. At 32 years of age, I made a longed for change in my career to stay-at-home mom. When my daughters entered middle school and we saw their college years on the horizon, I began working in my church’s office. (My unwritten job description included everything from preparing the weekly bulletin to cleaning graffiti off the church building). While my girls were in college, I took on the title of “Bacon Queen” at a friend’s online retail business. As their customer service lead, a co-worker dubbed me the “customer whisperer”. Getting irate callers to be laughing by the time we hung up was one of my proudest accomplishments. Seriously. When you’re getting fried over an order of bacon you’re stuck in a small story. My passion is for us all to step into the larger story.
Around the age of 12, I learned that to know and love Jesus is the purpose for which we were created. Faith at an early age is the spiritual equivalent of being born with a silver spoon in your mouth! The trying events of my life have been made easier knowing our God is for us, not against us.
Currently, I’m living an urban life in the beautiful and historic city of Alexandria. And I’m enjoying the opportunity to pursue my love of writing about life with the one who is Love.
